Office Live Workspace is an online storage service from Microsoft where you can upload documents directly from any of the Office programs using the Office Live add-in. The service was launched some two years ago and offered 5 GB of free storage space to all users.
Microsoft also maintains another cloud based storage service called Windows Live SkyDrive that not only offers five times more storage space (25 GB) but is even integrated with Office Web Apps. That means you can view and even edit your Office documents in the browser through SkyDrive.
Since Windows Live SkyDrive now offers all the features that were available in Office Live Workspace (and even more), it make little sense to have them both.
Therefore Microsoft is now giving users a simple one-click option to help them copy move all their documents from Office Live Workspace to Windows Live Skydrive.
To get started, sign-in to your Office Live Workspace account with your Windows Live ID and click the “Upgrade now” button. All your documents will be transferred to Skydrive (they’ll send you an email once the transfer is complete) and you can then permanently abandon your Workspace account.
Please note that existing “workspaces” will become “folders” in Windows Live SkyDrive while your Lists and Notes will converted to .xlsx and .docx formats respectively.
