Grasp the Importance of Twitter Search to Drive Traffic to your Website

“Twitter” is the word that doesn’t need any introduction or initiation. It is the keyword that has been the most searched word for the year 2009. Now a days many people know about the Twitter and its importance.

Twitter is the best platform for many aspects Social Networking, Business, Marketing, Promoting etc. I have been worried that many people know about Twitter but a very few know about Twitter search. Even I was ignorant of it’s importance until I came to experience its impact.
I will strongly recommend you to depend on the Twitter Search rather than Twitter if you are a Twitter Freak or Twitter devotee.
But folks, Twitter Search is a Holy place where you can find conversations on anything and everything. Twitter Search in realtime helps us to find what the world is doing right now. This is the best place for you to listen to people, help, engage, suggest and support at relevant places.
It’s through the Twitter Search not through the ordinary Twitter, you can increase your visibility and popularity that which drives a great traffic for your Website/Blog, and it also even creates a certain community of reader for you too.

I thought of a few things that can help you get started with Twitter Search

#1. Performing the Simple Search :

  • Type to Key-word that you want to search, you will find the tweets resembling to the given key-word.
  • This can be better explained with an example : Type Blog, it will give all the tweets that are related the word Blog.

#2. To Find the Exact Results of the Given Key-word :

  • In-order to get the exact results just type “Key-word” in double quotes.
  • Lets us try with the same above example : Type “Blog”, it will give the tweets that are exactly having word “Blog” in the tweet.

#3. Search Tweets of a Twitter User :

  • Using this you can also search the tweets of a specific person by just typing from:twitter-username, so that you can find the tweets of the person whom you are searching for.
  • Lets check it out with an example : Type from:devils_workshop, it will give tweets(latest) of devils_workshop. (Issue here that might arise is if you are offline in twitter this may not work and the result will be “no results from:twitter-username”. Then you are going to lose a great chance of driving the traffic into your website)

#4. Search the Tweets given to the Twitter User :

  • With this you can find the tweets given to a specific person by just typing to:twitter-username which gives @replies sent by the other user to a specified user.
  • Lets Check it out with an example : Type to:devils_workshop, it will give the tweets received by devils_workshop from the other users.
Do try out these searches with Twitter Search and let me know your thoughts with your comments.

Send Direct Messages to Multiple Twitter Users

Direct Messages in Twitter are like private tweets that are visible only to the sender and the recipients. When you send a Twitter DM to another user, the tweet shows up in his Twitter Inbox while a copy of that message gets saved into your Sent Items just like regular email.
Twitter lets you send direct messages to any other Twitter user provided he or she is following you. The other big limitation is that you can only send one DM at a time.
There are situation when you want to send private DMs to multiple people on Twitter. For instance, it’s your birthday and a couple of people have sent you birthday greetings through public tweets. Now you can either thank them all with public tweets (@replies) or you can send them private DMs containing the same note.
Neither Twitter’s web interface nor their desktop and mobile clients support multiple DMs but you can use an online app called TweetGuru to message multiple Twitter users with one go.
It’s simple. Just authenticate the app with your Twitter account and type the Twitter handles of all the users whom you want to message (see screenshot). You can use TweetGuru to send direct messages to 12 different users at a time.

Backup all your Online Accounts to Amazon S3, Free Until 1/31

If you have stored documents on Google Docs, you can use the built-in export feature of Google Docs to save all your documents on to the hard drive with a simple click.
Photo sharing sites like Flickr and Facebook will only let you download one photo at a time but there are third-party utilities (like FlickrDown and FotoBounce) that you may use to download all the pictures to the local drive in bulk.
The Problem
You can find similar solutions /workarounds for backing up your online data that may be residing on Twitter, Gmail, WordPress, PhotoBucket and other cloud based services.
There’re however some drawbacks with most of these “backup” solutions. First, they are all manual workarounds so you have to initiate the backup process on your own (in an ideal situation, backups should be automated). The other problem is that none of these solutions offer incremental backups (you will only want to download files from the cloud that are either new or have changed since the last backup).
The Solution
If you are looking for a simple solution that will let you backup all your online data to a central place effortlessly, check out Backify.com – this an online service that will fetch your documents, tweets, blogs, pictures, etc. from all your online accounts and will store them to Amazon S3, another cloud based storage service. Alternatively, you may also download these files to your local computer straight from Backify.
Backify works like this – you first need to associate all your different online accounts to Backify and then backups will occur automatically at frequent intervals. If you are techie, think of Backify as a web-based cron job for performing daily backups of your online accounts. It supports Twitter, Facebook, Gmail, Wordpress, Blogger, Flickr, and most other popular online services.
Get Backify for Free
Backify is a commercial service and you’ll have to pay around $4/month for 2GB of storage or $5/month for a premium account that offers 10 GB of online storage space. However, the good news is that if you sign-up before January 31st, the monthly fee will be waived and you can enjoy Backify services for free.
The Backify site currently makes no mention of any limitations for free accounts but there will probably be some, at least on the storage front.
Use Your Own Amazon Account with Backify
As mentioned above, Backify uses the reliable Amazon S3 service to backup your online accounts. Alternatively, you may choose the S3 option during the sign-up process, supply your Amazon Access keys and Backify will then store your acconts data in one of your S3 buckets instead of their own.
This is useful because you can then access these files directly from the desktop using any of the S3 clients without having to use the web interface of Backify.

How to use Twitter???

Welcome to How To Use Twitter! Before we get into the detail let me make one thing very clear! Twitter is a way of connecting with other people who share your interests or who might be interested in what you have to say. Please do not view it simply as a source of traffic for your Squidoo Lenses, Blogs or other Websites. Something new has happened online and if you're not part of it, you're missing out. The new trend I'm referring to is Twitter.

Twitter, is a free service available at Twitter, is a combination of a microblogging tool and a social networking site. Twitter is a fantastic way to get more traffic to your blog and build a relationship with your readership. If you're brand new to Twitter, or even if you've been around on the site for some time, you'll find out in this lens how you could use it to generate traffic to your Squidoo Lenses and your blogs and open the doors to brand new subscribers.

What is Twitter and How Can it Help Me?

Twitter is changing the way that many people connect and communicate online and should be an indispensable part of your overall marketing plan for your Squidoo Lenses, blogs and websites. Twitter is free to join and you can get set up with an account in a matter of just a few minutes.

Twitter has two main components. Just like social networking sites such as MySpace or Facebook, you can add "followers" and follow other people as well. They'll receive your updates and you'll receive theirs.

What is unique is that your messages are limited just to 140 characters, which is why some people call it a "microblogging" tool. You have to keep your messages brief and to the point.

Sometimes it's a real challenge to get the point across in the allotted space, but it also leaves room for a lot of creativity! Coming up with ways to say what you have to say in that small space is part of the fun of Twitter. It makes you think about the core aspects of the message you are trying to convey. You may also find, like me, that it helps you write shorter reports and emails generally!

4 Ways Twitter Can Help Jumpstart Your Traffic!

Before you set up your account, let's go over a few of the ways that you can use Twitterr:

  1. Getting traffic to your Squidoo Lenses, websites and blog posts - With a simple post to Twitter, you can have lots of readers come to your lens, blog or site. Even though feeds do the same thing, you can often find new readers on Twitter or remind current readers to re-visit your lens, blog or site.
  2. Connecting with your readership - When you write, you're speaking to your readership from a distance. You write your lens or post, edit it and then post it. During all of these activities, you're removed from your audience. But when you use Twitter to communicate, it becomes a conversation. You can show more of your personality to your followers and truly communicate with them on a different level. This can get them more interested in you and your writings which will build more traffic over time.
  3. Building your brand - In order to stand out amidst the large amount of Twitter accounts online, you need to develop a persona for people to connect to and identify with. You can further your branding by using a Twitter account. You need to figure out what makes you unique in your niche and then extend these differences between you and others in you Twitter posts. Decide what your persona or approach is and then make sure your Twitter posts reflect that.
  4. Researching - With Twitter, your target market can be at your be at your fingertips. You can spy on their interests, ask them about their needs and automatically get ideas for your blog posts.
